Introduced at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show, the 928 was conceived (and priced) as the flagship of the Porsche range. A luxurious GT, it was styled in-house by American Tony Lapine as a replacement for the then ageing 911.
Ultimately, the newcomer failed to usurp its sibling despite becoming the only sports car ever to win the European Car of the Year title in 1978. Built around a galvanised steel monocoque, the 2+2 made extensive use of aluminium for its wheels, doors, bonnet, transaxle housing, front suspension wishbones, rear suspension uprights, upper links and main cross member.
Available with a choice of manual or automatic transmission the 928 was regarded as a crushingly capable Grand Tourer. Porsche introduced a refreshed 928 S into the European market (this model) in
the 1980 model year. Externally, the S wore new front and rear spoilers and sported wider wheels and tyres than the older variant, but the main change for the 928 S was under the bonnet, where a revised 4.7 Litre engine was used as is seen with this example.

VRM: OIL 5694 – Transferable
(Value £850)
A very well presented 928s in what we consider ‘The ultimate’ of early 80’s Porsche colours, Casablanca Beige Metallic (Gold) with a complementing chocolate leather and cloth interior… Could you get away with this today? We’d like to think so!
The 4700cc engine coupled with a four speed automatic transmission which was introduced in 1984 and gives excellent sports performance whilst also being able to be driven as a daily driver.
The car presents very well with straight panels, factory front and rear spoilers, an interior is in good order, however, there are some areas of minor micro blisters/pitting beneath the paint.
Extensive paperwork in regard to MoT’s dating back to 1996, previous tax discs and over £5,000 in bills fill the original keepers wallet along with wiring diagrams and service manuals.Note: The 928s models has been seen to be appreciating fast over the past 24 months making this a scarce opportunity to acquire an good early 80’s example.
